Rhode Island is a state located in the northeastern region of the United States. It is the smallest state in the U.S. at 1,212 square miles and the 43rd most populated with over 1 million residents. It is part of the New England region and was the first of the Thirteen Colonies to renounce its allegiance to the British Crown. Its’ official nickname is “The Ocean State”.
